Aimé Leon Dore‘s collaborations are the stuff of legend. Sound like hyperbole? Maybe, but getting your hands on the New York brand’s instantly-sold out joint efforts with the likes of New Balance and Woolrich are about as easy as snapping a clear photo of Bigfoot. ALD already has another future classic in the works, as evidenced by the teaser for its latest Porsche collaboration.
Picking up right where the duo left off in early 2020, Aimé and Porsche are offering little more than a moody photo — spotlighting the rear of an ALD-plated retro 911 — to whet fans’ appetites.
Last time, the duo dropped an elegantly customized 911 Carrera 4 type 964, complete with a variety of thematic wearables that included Porsche-branded coaches jackets, tees, pullovers, and accessories elevated by Schott leather and houndstooth wool crafted by Loro Piana.
This partnership continues streetwear’s ongoing flirtation with automotive enterprises, recently manifesting by way of KITH’s expansive BMW release, Yohji Yamamoto’s Lamborghini collaboration, and Virgil Abloh’s Mercedes-Benz.
“If you like good design, you’ll like cars,” Period Correct’s Bryan Calvero recently told Highsnobiety. Well, there’s a pretty good chance that anyone who appreciates good design will also be taking notes from Aimé Leon Dore, which promises to reveal more details about its Porsche collaboration “soon.”
