Countdown to the Fenty Bowl: Here’s What We Hope To See at Rihanna’s Halftime Show

We’re just days away from Rihanna’s 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, the musician’s biggest return to the stage in six years.

It’s crazy to think the news of Rihanna’s headlining slot hit our feeds in September of last year. Now, the moment is just around the corner (49 hours and nine minutes away, to be exact).

There’s many lingering questions regarding Rihanna’s Super Bowl show, so let’s get down to some of the those answers.

Is Rihanna performing at the Super Bowl? Yep! When is the Super Bowl, and thus Rih’s halftime show? Sunday, February 12. Who’s playing at the Super Bowl? The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. Who else is going to be there? Well, we know Adele will be there for sure.

As far as the bad gal’s setlist goes, Rihanna confessed it was a struggle to “cram” her extremely lengthy music catalog into a 13-minute-long set.

“There’s probably been about 39 versions of the setlist right now. We’re on our 39th. Every little change counts,” Rihanna stated during a recent press conference. Sheesh.

“Some songs we have to lose because of that, and that’s going to be OK,” she said. “We did a pretty good job at narrowing it down.”

I suspect bops like “Work,” “Umbrella,” and “Pon de Replay,” will make the cut. Let’s also go with “Diamonds,” “Lift Me Up,” “Needed Me,” and maybe even “What’s My Name” as honorable wishes.

It’s also worth mentioning Apple Music recently teased “Run This Town” in the singer’s latest promo. Perhaps, a surprise Jay-Z appearance is in the works?

Certainly, it’s not a farfetched hunch. He has quite a few collaborations with Rihanna and, plus, Roc Nation spearheads the Super Bowl Halftime Show performances. But alas, only time will tell.

What will Rihanna wear? Given the icon’s reigning street style status (bump-first and couple slays included), expect the Rihanna to bring her fashion A-game to the stage.

If her Alaïa ensemble for her recent press event is any indication, just know: whatever she and stylist Jahleel Weaver cooked up will be iconic.

Additionally, the rumor mill claims that we’ll see new music — more like an entire album — and a global tour announced directly after Rihanna’s show.

Is it possible? Sure, it could happen (why not at make an internet-breaking annoncement at arguably the most-watched American sports event of the year?). Regardless, we’re withholding excitement until the news falls from the lips of Rihanna herself.

Now, if you need us, we’ll be counting down to Rihanna’s football game concert.
