Fashion Through Rosalía-Tinted Glasses

The first I heard of Rosalía was midway through last year when my partner told me to stop humming that song of hers I’d been humming for the entire time I was cooking dinner.

In truth, I had no idea who Rosalía was and I was simply focused on delivering the best Lasagne I could, but thanks to TikTok’s obsession with Bizcochito (you’ll know it), I was already a fan of the Spaniard — I just didn’t know it.

Ever since, I’ve been obsessed. Not in a creepy way, but more in awe of the 30 year old and her ever-growing list of accomplishments. She can sing, she can dance, and lord knows she can TikTok, yet the one thing that’s stuck in my mind the most — as it likely would any fashion editor — is her unique sense of style.

From “Nikespadrilles” and Gerrit Jacob, to nineties adidas Originals and some truly wild leather concoctions, Rosalía is making her own #fashion rules. And she doesn’t care who knows it.

As it happens, her most recent look of particular note came on February 8 when she was spotted in New York’s West Village looking like a boujee (albeit naked) version of Tony the Tiger in a matching oversized coat and boot pairing.

The ensemble in question is that of French label BLUEMARBLE, a look that was recently shown at their Fall/Winter 2023 presentation during Paris Fashion Week. You know what, it looks Grrrreat! (Sorry).

The fact Rosalía was invited to perform at Colm Dillane’s Louis Vuitton performance atop a childhood bedroom-inspired set in Paris last month is proof her style isn’t going unnoticed, yet still, if anything, it deserves a lot more attention.
