The singer, songwriter, philanthropist, and daughter of the King of Rock and Roll has died following her hospitalization.

Lisa Marie Presley was brought to the hospital on Thursday, January 12. She died later that day, at only 54 years old.

According to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, they received a report of a woman in full cardiac arrest at Presley’s address.

Paramedics arrived six minutes later and performed CPR. When it was determined that she had signs of life, she was taken to a nearby hospital.

Her mother, Priscilla Presley, confirmed her passing in a statement to People magazine, saying “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.

“She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment.”

Presley recently attended the Golden Globes to celebrate the nominations Elvis received and to support actor Austin Butler, who portrayed her father in the biopic.

Butler thanked the Presley family in his acceptance speech, saying “Thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me. Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever.”

Life and legacy

Born on February 1, 1968, Lisa Marie was the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley. Following her father’s death when she was only nine years old, she became a joint heir to his estate alongside her grandparents.

Presley pursued her music career, producing three albums and making her own mark in the industry. Her debut album, To Whom It May Concern, reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart. The lead single, “Lights Out,” has mentions of her family background, taking on a darker tone.

She was also a dedicated philanthropist who oversaw the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation. The EPCF aided homeless families by providing them with rent-free housing, child day care, counseling, and other tools that would help them break the poverty cycle.

A mother of four children, Presley recently penned an essay in honor of her son, Benjamin Keough, who passed away in 2020.

Hi. In honor of it being National Grief Awareness Day , I wrote an essay about Grief which was posted today on People. I thought I’d post it here in the hopes that anyone who needs to hear all of this it helps in some way.
