EXCLUSIVE: Dickies x Pop Trading Co. Is a Subtle Flex

Pop Trading Company is next up to take a, well, pop at Dickies workwear, linking with the American label for a collaborative capsule collection.

A first-time linkup, Dickies and Pop Trading Co,’s collaboration sees the two explore the “paradox of aesthetics and function,” per a press statement. The result? A collection of workwear that’s practical at the core but purely flex-worthy on the surface.

“Growing up, we always wore Dickies to skate in for the value, quality, and the big U.S. influence on the Dutch skate scene. It’s hugely nostalgic for us,” Peter Kolks, Pop Trading Co. co-founder, stated.

“From a design perspective, we often play on the contrast between our roots in skate and menswear, which is reflected in the collection. We’ve given Dickies’ iconic workwear silhouettes the Pop treatment with elevated materials like nylon and linen and design details like two-way zips and woven information labels poking out of pockets.”

With Dickies x Pop Trading Co., Dickies’ workwear icons receive an even more relaxed fit and effortless flair, achieved through linen-cotton blends and nylon constructions matched with an earthy palette.

For the collab, Dickies’ famed Work pants are loosened (side note: please leave the waistline as is, Tiktokers. I beg). At the same time, the  Work shirt ditches its traditional button system in exchange for a quarter-length zipper. Fans can still count on the two front pockets, though.

The Amsterdam label’s spin on the Eisenhower jacket sees the beloved outerwear piece receive a surprise flap pocket on the back (because why not?). Meanwhile, a stitched dual-branded tag peeks out from the jacket’s pocket.

Dickies and Pop Trading Co.’s capsule also include a bucket hat with a pocket, baseball cap, tote bag, tees, and waffle knit tops — all rendered in the collection’s understated hues and collaborative graphics (like Pop’s “P” created with Dickies’ famed horsehoe motif).

Elsewhere, co-branding materializes as the two’s respective logos stitched onto garments and accessories — being shy as they subtly appear from pockets.

Both Dickies and Pop Trading Co. know how to pick ‘em when it comes to collaborators (Dickies worked with Gucci and Mastermind while Pop linked with Burberry). The two labels were destined to find their way to each other sooner or later, especially given both brands’ roots in skate culture.
