Now that Watches and Wonders is re-established as the global trade fair for the luxury watch industry, the major Swiss maisons are back to hoarding their novelties, for the first half of the year at least, for unveiling at the end of March event.

Grand Seiko, which has a berth among the venerable Swiss watch houses, appears not to have got the memo on that plan and has been grabbing headlines for several fresh timepieces since the start of the year.

The latest is named Yuki Gesho (ref. SBGJ271G), Japanese for snow-covered scenery.

It is a GMT watch with a dial made to look like a fresh winter landscape.

It joins Grand Seiko’s Nature of Time family, which take inspiration from the scenes around its design studio near Tokyo.

The 39.5mm steel on steel watch has an exhibition case back revealing Grand Seiko’s 9S86 Spring Drive GMT movement, which is accurate to + 5 to -3 seconds per day and has 55 hour power reserve.

It is on sale now priced at £6,400.
