Penn Badgley Is On a Major Turtleneck-Suit Kick

Netflix’s red-hot thriller You is back with a new season, and the show’s handsome killer of a star Penn Badgley is on a red-hot press blitz to match. Armed with a perfectly scruffy beard and some seriously shaggy locks, Badgley is doing it all: wooing the internet with a viral TikTok or two, showing up at Thom Browne’s NYFW show, and appearing on the morning and night talk shows. So, what does one wear to promote a show about love and murder? Well, if you’re Bagley, you wear a turtleneck, and you wear a suit.

Last week, Badgley showed up to Good Morning America in a burnt gold turtleneck under a blue double-breasted blazer. (With some matching gold Chelsea boots, no less.) The next day, he was off to chat with Seth Meyers on Late Night, and the scruffy star once again opted for another turtleneck-plus-suit, though this time, he went for inky shades of navy-black from Boglioli. This wasn’t exactly his first rodeo, either: last year he hit Jimmy Kimmel Live! in a Malbec-shaded velvet number.

Neck-warming knitwear will always be a big-time style swerve, especially when paired with tailoring—but it’s a move that A-listers love. Michael B. Jordan and Tom Holland have been known to dabble, as have Robert Pattinson and Drake. (If the turtleneck feels like too much of a commitment, you can always get your toes wet with a lower-key mock-neck sweater.) However, as these famous guys know, the timeless sophistication of a real-deal turtleneck can’t be beaten. Either way, we can officially add Penn Badgley to the list of handsome Hollywood men who know how to wear the hell out of a turtleneck and suit.
